Al-Flex is one of the few companies nationwide to be licensed by National Wood Pallet & Container Association (NWPCA) to provide preventative treatments for wood-packaging materials for the Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) and other Chinese wood-boring insects.

The United States is now implementing a new treaty to eradicate these insects, which invaded the US from China to the US and began wiping out forests. If left unchecked, the USDA estimates the ALB and other Chinese wood-boring insects could cause as much as $138 billion in damage to the U.S. economy.

In an effort to address this problem and help protect the world’s forests, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) worked with world authorities to develop a plan for preventative treatments. Click here to read more about this beetle.

Al-Flex works closely with the USDA and has a pilot exchange program whereby we perform treatments at our customers’ sites or at our facilities. Treatments, which typically last 36 hours, are divided into 24-hour treatment periods plus 12 hours of irrigation. They must be marked with the NWPCA’s approval stamp.
